AERIAL SLING

Ages 8 and up

At HDA, all of our aerial programs start with the safest apparatus: the Aerial Sling (or hammock), as it is the most adaptable aerial tool, allowing students to explore several skills at a low height. With all aerial exercises optional, we encourage students to advance at their own pace while still providing room for exploration and play. Instructors will provide regular progress reports to the students and their families so they have a clear vision of how they can progress in the art form.

Youth Classes Available:

  • JUMPSTART: No experience necessary! This class is made for students who are looking to try something new or add to their existing dancer toolkit. Class begins with an off-fabric warm-up, followed by conditioning skills, and culminating with beginner tricks and transitions.* (CLASS FULL FOR FALL '23)

  • AERIAL I: Now, we level up! Aerial I is made for students who are looking to advance their aerial skills, specifically learning to invert from a standing position. Like Jumpstart, the class begins with an off-fabric warm-up, followed by conditioning skills, and culminating with beginning/intermediate tricks and transitions.  (CLASS FULL FOR FALL '23)

  • AERIAL II: Time to get serious! Aerial II focuses on brain-teasing tricks, transitions, inversion techniques, and intermediate strength training. Solo performance work begins here!

  • MINIMESTERS: Not ready to commit to a full semester? Check back later this year to learn more about mini aerial sessions.

Adult Classes Available:

  • AERIAL CIRCUIT: Aerial Circuit is a 45-minute conditioning class for those who are looking to supplement their aerial practice or just want a good sweat to great tunes! This class is led by certified aerial fitness professionals who offer several modifications and advancements throughout class — including a peak pose perfect for social media!

  • FLY FIT AND FLOW: A great introduction to the aerial hammock, Fly Flow is an all-level aerial yoga class designed to both assist and challenge existing asana practices. This class is led by certified aerial yoga professionals who offer several modifications and advancements throughout class — including a peak pose ideal for Instagram pictures!
